Habitat for Humanity Step Up Challenge Raises Over 60K
On Sunday, October 22, over a hundred people gathered to raise support for the construction of more affordable homes in the Lower Mainland. The Step Up Challenge was an exhilarating experience that brought participants to the heart of downtown Vancouver, allowing them to ascend six iconic towers, covering a staggering 2568 feet and 184 floors. Over $60,000 was raised at this event, all of which will go toward the construction of 42 town houses in Coquitlam in 2024.
The challenge offered different levels of participation, from climbing all six towers to tackling three or even just one. The event's culmination at The Stack's rooftop deck added an extra layer of excitement and camaraderie, creating a unique opportunity to showcase not only athletic prowess but also unwavering support for a vital cause.
Participants were encouraged to set individual fundraising goals, with a suggested target of $2500, allowed everyone to be a part of the new build initiatives and contribute to raising awareness about housing affordability issues. This collective effort to tackle a critical issue like affordable housing demonstrated the power of community and the impact that can be achieved when we come together.
The event wouldn't have been possible without the generous support of sponsors who believed in the cause. Hudson Pacific Properties served as the Shotgun Start Lead Sponsor, and their contribution was instrumental in making this event a reality.
Axiom Builders, Odlum Brown (Tannis Calder Portfolio Manager), IntraCorp, Schneider Electric, and Ark & Mason also played significant roles as Partner in Climb Sponsors, and Omicron took on the role of the Community Bell Ringer. Their support was crucial in ensuring the event's success and further highlighted the commitment of local businesses to the community's well-being.
Additionally, we’d like to thank Innovative Fitness for sponsoring the warm up activities the morning of the event, RBC for sponsoring the t-shirts, and DoorDash for sponsoring food at the afterparty. GnuSante and Organika were also important sponsors, providing delicious snacks for our swag bags.
This event wouldn’t have been possible without the generous use of several key buildings from Hudson Pacific, Oxford Properties, Cadillac Fairview, and Polaris Realty. Thank you to all of the property managers and security staff who came together to support this cause.
Finally, we’d like to mention the generous door prizes that were given out at our event from the following partners:
- The Keg
- Top of Vancouver Revolving Restaurant
- Hershel
- SFU
